Calabria known
in antiquity as Bruttium or
formerly as Italia, is a region
in southern Italy, forming the "toe" of the Italian Peninsula. The
capital city of Calabria is Catanzaro. The majority of Calabrians are Roman
Catholic. There are also communities of Evangelicals on the western coast.
The most famous saint in Calabria and also the patron saint of the region
is St. Francis of Paola. Even though it is currently a very small community,
there has been a long history of the presence of Jews in Calabria. Source
