Modern architecture
or Modernist architecture is a
term applied to an overarching movement, with its exact definition and scope
varying widely. The style prospered, but fell markedly out of favor during the
design competition for the Palace of the Soviets from 1931 to 1933, losing to a
more traditional revivalism of Russian architecture with nationalistic
overtones, afterwards termed Postconstructivism. Source
